‘Burbank Tangerine’ produces large, sweet, juicy, free stone, aromatic plums. The rhubarb and custard coloured medium sized spherical fruits, are golden-yellow, flushed with a raspberry tint. This easy-to-grow plum is trouble free making it a good choice for the garden and perfect for beginners.
Pollination information: Although partially self-fertile, yields will be increased if paired with a pollinating partner from another variety of plum nearby. Ideally this should come from the same pollination group 3, however it is possible to use one from group 2 or 4 as well.
When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Stone fruits like the plums should be pruned in the summer because they are prone to a disease called silver leaf which enters through cuts. If you prune in late summer, the sap is slowing but is still running fast enough to seal up any wounds. Check and remove any damaged, diseased or broken branches.
